About me

Hi, I’m Ruth - I create hand-drawn illustrations inspired by everyday buildings and places.

Born and raised in Dunedin, I studied at the Dunedin School of Art. My early drawing experience grew from working part‑time in an architect’s office, followed by several years freelancing, creating detailed house illustrations for real estate advertising in local newspapers.

After a break in another field, I’ve returned to drawing and am enjoying reconnecting with the work that has always felt most natural to me.

I work with black ink on watercolour paper, exploring different pen nib sizes to create precision, depth, and contrast. See examples of my work in the gallery.
